WithSuper Mariobeing Nintendo’s flagship franchise, it’s no surprise that the company has packed the Switch with a ton of games starring the iconic plumber. Thanks to enhanced ports, brand-new games, and the Switch Online subscription service, the Switch gives players access to some of the bestSuper Mariogames of all time.
Switch owners have access to brand-newSuper Mariogames likeSuper Mario OdysseyandSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, as well as plenty of classics through the Switch Online service, like the NESSuper Mario Bros.trilogy,Super Mario World, and more. However, not everySuper Mariogame has made its way to the Switch just yet. As far as2DSuper Mariogamesgo, there are quite a few that the Switch is still missing, but when it comes to 3D games, the console is just two titles short of being the perfect 3DSuper Mariomachine.

At the time of this writing, the Nintendo Switch has access toall 3DSuper Mariogamesexcept for the Nintendo 3DS exclusiveSuper Mario 3D Landand the critically-acclaimed Wii sequelSuper Mario Galaxy 2. Every other 3DSuper Mariogame is playable on the Switch in some form, which means owners of Nintendo’s latest console can playSuper Mario 64,Super Mario Sunshine, the originalSuper Mario Galaxy,Super Mario 3D World, and of course, the Switch exclusiveSuper Mario Odyssey.
3D Super Mario Games on the Switch
Super Mario 64is available on the Switch through the Switch Online service as well as through theSuper Mario 3D All-Starscollection.Super Mario SunshineandSuper Mario Galaxyare also part of theSuper Mario 3D All-Starspackage. As far asSuper Mario 3D Worldgoes, the Switch is actually home to an enhanced version of the game with new features and thenewBowser’s Furyexperiencethat shows what an open worldSuper Mariogame would play like.
Super Mario Odysseyis the Switch’s only completely original3DSuper Mariogame, and it’s actually one of the highest-rated video game releases of all time. Between that and the classic 3DSuper Mariogames playable on the platform, the Switch is clearly the best Nintendo console for anyone wanting to play as many 3DSuper Mariogames as possible.
It’s just a shame that there are two 3DSuper Mariogames still missing from the Switch’s library, and at this point, it doesn’t seem likely thatSuper Mario Galaxy 2orSuper Mario 3D Landwill actually make it to the Switch. After all, rumor has it that Nintendo is gearing up torelease the Switch 2 console in 2024. Perhaps those games could find new life on that platform, though that remains to be seen.
