Noah Wyle is taking on a different kind of role for an episode inThe Pittseason 2. Wyle plays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in HBO Max’s critically acclaimed medical drama series, is an executive producer, and wrote two season 1 episodes. It was announced on June 16 that production onThe Pittseason 2had begun.

Several noticeable shifts from season 1 have occurred since then, with the most notable being that Heather Collins (Tracy Ifeachor) is not returning. Meanwhile, Shawn Hatosy, who played Dr. Jack Abbott in season 1, is not only reprising his role in season 2, but is directing an episode.

PerVariety, Wyle now shared at the Televerse 2025 festival that he is directing episode 6 ofThe Pittseason 2. Production for episode 5 was recently completed, and work on episode 6 will commence this Tuesday. Check out Wyle’s comments below:

We are just about finished with episode five. We start episode six on Tuesday. I feel prepped, which is what you want to feel. This has been such an amazing experience for me, all the way down the line.

What This Means For The Pitt

Wyle is already the face ofThe Pitt, and now his new role will further increase his involvement in the show, this time behind the camera. With his extensive experience and knowledge from acting onThe Pittand onER, he understands what makes a good episode of a medical drama.

Most of his previous experience in the industry is as an actor, but he has directed several episodes of television before. This includes five episodes ofLeverage: Redemption, five episodes ofThe Librarians, and one episode ofFalling Skies.

Science fiction, fantasy, and action crime dramas all have their challenges, but directing a medical drama on the scale ofThe Pittwill be a first for Wyle. As daunting as this task may be, he is well-suited to tackling these challenges.

With both Wyle and Hatosy directing, season 2 will now have at least two episodes directed by actors fromThe Pitt’s cast. This could set a precedent for other members of the cast to direct episodes in future seasons as well.

Our Take On Noah Wyle Directing An Episode Of The Pitt Season 2

It’s often exciting to see an actor directing an episode of their own show, and the same holds true for Wyle directing an episode ofThe Pittseason 2. Episode 6 is now poised to be onf of season 2’s most intriguing stories, and I’m curious to see what Dr. Robby’s role will be in that particular installment.

Wyle is one of the main reasonsThe Pittseason 1 was such a success, and with him taking on new creative challenges this time around, season 2 could be even better. There are higher expectations now, but I have little doubt that Wyle and the rest of the show’s creative team will meet, or even exceed, those expectations.
