While Luffy and Zoro were fighting Kizaru and Lucci, Bonney fought nameless Marines, but it was still a largely impressive fight. While it wasn’t as flashy as the other fights, Bonney’s fight stood out entirely thanks to its stellar choreography, with Bonney combining the creativity of her Age-Age Fruit with her surprisingly great physical abilities to take down dozens of Marines without breaking a sweat.One Pieceepisode #1127 casually gave Bonney one of the anime’s most creative fight scenes yet, and the fact that it wasn’t even the main draw of the episode makes that even better.
What was most shocking about Bonney’s fight was how it compared to the manga. When the corresponding manga chapter to episode #1127 cut back to Bonney, it only showed the aftermath of her fighting Marines, with no context for what happened, soBonney’s fight inOne Pieceepisode #1127 became incredibly special because it was a completely original sequence as opposed to the manga giving her nothing to work with. Another major reason why Bonney’s fight stood out was that it fixed a major drawback of the anime. Not only was the choreography and overall animation great to watch, but it did it without all the flashy spectacle people have criticized the anime for as of late. One Piece’s Anime Gave Bonney Her Best Showing, By Far
Above all else, the biggest reason why Bonney’s fight was so good was due to how much respect it gave her character. Bonney was never given too many opportunities to fight in the manga, but by expanding on Bonney’s fight with the Marines,One Piece’s anime gave Bonney her best scene of all time by showing off her incredible physical prowess and creative handling of her Devil Fruit. Even the manga never showed off her power like that, so it made for another example of how greatOne Piece’s filler content can be.
Egghead’s final act puts even more focus on Bonney’s character with her continually ending up at the center of the action, and while much of that was owed both to her Devil Fruit and to her being Kuma’s daughter,Bonney’s spectacular showcase inOne Pieceepisode #1127 shows that she always had the level of competence to justifyBonney’s role in the Egghead arc’s final act. Whether that was intentional is unknown, but regardless, it’s another reason why Bonney’s fight was so great, and hopefully, it will get the recognition it deserves inOne Pieceand then some.
