Not too long ago, Blizzard Entertainment officially confirmed exactly whenOverwatchfans would be able start taking part in the team-based shooter’s forthcoming holiday event for 2018 dubbedWinter Wonderland. Now, the developer has decided to give players a taste of some of the cosmetics that can be earned during the in-game Christmas celebration, by unveiling the Sugar Plum Fairy skin for the support character Mercy.
As seen in the tweet below from the officialOverwatchTwitter account, Mercy’s Legendary Sugar Plum Fairy skin changes the Swiss character’s white Valkyrie Suit into one of purples, magentas, and aquamarine greens. What’s more is that instead of the golden halo affixed to her head, the skin puts an elegant crown befitting a pixie, sprite, or wood nymph in her hair instead. Not to mention, she’s given a set of pointy elf-like ears to denote her status as a Sugar Plum Fairy.
For those who have been out of the loop in regards toOverwatch’s promotional wares leading up to Winter Wonderland 2018, the Legendary Sugar Plum Fairy skin for Mercy isn’t the first character cosmetic that Blizzard has revealed for the event. As it so happens, Zarya will get an ursine-themed winter sports getup called Snowboarder Zarya, and Lucio will receive a cybernetic-inspired suit called Arctic Fox Lucio.
As of now, there’s no telling what otherOverwatchheroes will receive new Legendary skins for Winter Wonderland 2018, as there’s still a few days left until the event officially goes live. That said, though, it will be interesting to see if Blizzard decides to highlight its newest playable character, the semi-automatic rifle-wielding Ashe, with a holiday-themed cosmetic all her own. At any rate, we will simply have to wait and find out what else the developer has in store for the rest ofOverwatch’s roster come next week.
Overwatchis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
