Season 2 of Disney+’sPercy Jackson and the Olympianswill feature one iconic book character who was cut from the 2013 movie, and fans can get the first glimpse of him now. After the less-than-loyal movie adaptations of thePercy Jackson books, fans were thrilled to see the Disney+ TV show, starring Walker Scobell as the titular main character. The first season made up for many failures of the movies, and the second season will follow suit by incorporating one iconic character who was cut from the second film.

In the first-look image, Tantalus has longer brown hair that’s spiked out to the sides and a five o’clock shadow. He’s scowling while looking at something off to the side, which entirely fits his personality as the unlikable and mean demi-god from Rick Riordan’sPercy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters.

What The Tantalus First Look Means For Percy Jackson Season 2

Tantalus Looks Different But Somehow The Same

Timothy Simons' version of Tantalus looks pretty different from the character in the Sea of Monsters graphic novel. Simons looks more sinister in his style, and the character from the graphic novel has much more exaggerated facial features. However, they match up in the way that matters the most: personality.

Based on the facial expression and his posture,it is very clear that Simons' Tantalus will be the same sadistic jerk from the source material. What’s more, it would be easy to guess, solely off the first-look image, what character he is in the story. It’s very clear that he is the mean-spirited trickster who gets stuck as interim Activities Director at Camp Half-Blood.

Our Take On Timothy Simons' Tantalus

We’re Confident Percy Jackson Season 2 Will Be Just As Good As Season 1

As a fan of the Percy Jackson books and TV show, the first-look image of Timothy Simons' Tantalus makes me all the more eager for season 2. I absolutely love to hate the character of Tantalus. There’s nothing to bring fans together like rooting for the downfall of a character we all can’t stand. We might all have strong opinions about our favorite characters and ships, but I think most of the Percy Jackson fanbase can agree that Tantalus is the worst.

On top of that, the photo of Timothy Simons' Tantalus gives me hope that the second season will be just as good as the first. All the news about the upcoming season has made me confident that they’re putting time and attention into making the show an accurate representation of the books that we love. June 06, 2025, can’t come soon enough!
