God of Warjust launched on PC, expanding the audience for one of PlayStation’s most beloved games. Some may have forgotten they can soon take it on the go too, but a PlayStation executive reminded players through a picture of them playingGod of Waron the Steam Deck.
In the few days since it launched,God of Waron PC has been doing very well. Between record-breaking player counts for a PlayStation produced PC game to near universal critical acclaim for the porting of the 2018 original title,God of War on PC has a great deal going for it. While there is still great anticipation for Valve’s upcoming portable device, the Steam Deck, these final months have been a bit more difficult as the company tries to make it launch. An unfortunate delay a few months back has pushed the Steam Deck’s release to February, which as of right now, is still the plan for Valve.

A new tweet by PlayStation Indies President Shuhei Yoshida gives fans a look atGod of Warrunning on Steam Deck. In Yoshida’s very candid post is an image of them holding their Steam Deck with the iconicGod of Warmain menu screen visible. Yoshida exclaims a long pronounced “Yes!” to which fellow industry icon Geoff Keighley replies with a GIF expressing their jealousy. Many believe that if PlayStation continues putting titles to PC, theSteam Deck may pick up where the PS Vita left off.
While there are a variety of new performance settings inGod of Waron PC, the obvious question that remains is how well will the game run on the Steam Deck. Valve detailed itsSteam Deck Verified systema few months back, explaining how it will approach the innumerable catalog of games available on Steam.
There are four categories—Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown—which from left to right generally signify a descent in compatibility. A Verified game is one that plays great on the Steam Deck, while an Unsupported game is one that simply does not work on the Steam Deck and can therefore not be played.
Considering the litany ofgraphical options inGod of Waron PC, it would be surprising for the game to not receive at least a Playable rating. Valve hasn’t given an update on how its library is fairing through the Steam Deck Verified system, and likely won’t do so until the handheld’s release gets closer. Until then, all that players can do is speculate based on the Steam Deck’s hardware components.
God of Waris available on PC and PS4.
