Following the exciting debut of Tinkaton as part of the celebratoryPokémon Horizonsevent,Pokémon GOis unveiling yet another notable Pokémon debut in the upcoming Sweet Discoveries event. Centered around the debut of Applin and some of his evolutionary lines, Sweet Discoveries will offer opportunities to catch several different Pokémon, with increased shiny odds.
Unfortunately, while Applin did receive some newevolutions inPokémon Scarlet and Violet, Dipplin and Hydrapple specifically will not be part of this debut.This event will specifically debut the evolutions featured only inPokémon Sword and Shield, but the other evolutions will likely appear in the future.

Sweet Discoveries Event Schedule
Applin Will Be The Center Of A Week-Long Event
TheSweet Discoveries event will occur fromThursday, June 08, 2025, at 10 am to Tuesday, April 29, at 8 pm local time. This will provide nearly a week to complete all the associated research tasks, catch all the event Pokémon, and potentially even fully evolve Applin into both evolutionary lines.
Whilethis event won’t feature any raids, there will be a list of Pokémon with increased spawn rates, items appearing in the overworld, timed research tasks, as well as new avatar items and Pokémon showcases. If you’re hoping to take full advantage of the event, you’ll want to make sure you maximize your time and check in every day, especially sinceevolving Applin will involve collecting apples in addition to candy.

All Pokémon Debuts During The Sweet Discoveries Event
Be On The Lookout For This Fruit-Inspired Pokémon
The starring debut of this event is none other thanthe Gen 8 Grass/Dragon Pokémon, Applin. Similar to a handful of other Pokémon,Applin has several different evolutionary linesinto a stage 1 Pokémon and one line that evolves further into a stage 2 Pokémon. The Gen 8 evolutions, which were originally unique to which version you had betweenSword and Shield, areFlapple and Appletun.
As of Gen 9,Applin now has a new third evolutionary linewhere it can evolve into Dipplin and from there into Hydrapple, but theseGen 9 Applin evolutions will not be available during the Sweet Discoveries event. To evolve Applin into its various evolutions in the mainline games, a unique Apple item is typically required, depending on the evolution you’re aiming for, andPokémon GOwill be no different.
Mossy Lure Modules can be used to increase the chance of Apples spawning during the event.
While playing through the event, Apples will begin to spawn around your avatar. Collecting them will reward you with various items or encounters with Applin. The Apples that aren’t Applin will either be Tart or Sweet Apples, both of which can be used to evolve Applin.20 Tart Apples can be used to evolve Applin into Flapple, while20 Sweet Apples can be used to evolve Applin into Appletun. However,you will also need 200 Applin Candyto carry out each evolution, in addition to the Apples.
All Wild Spawns During The Sweet Discoveries Event
Don’t Forget To Keep An Eye Out For Other Event Themed Pokémon
When you’re not collecting Apples, be sure to look out for some of the other Pokémon that will be available during this event. All the wild spawn Pokémon featured as part of this event will also have increased shiny odds, making this the perfect time to test your luck at finding one. The Pokémon that will be featured during this event include:
Note that while Applin is technically a wild-spawn Pokémon for this event as well, you won’t see it the way that the other Pokémon typically spawn.Applin will only appear as an Apple item on the map, and there’s no guarantee that every Apple will be a Pokémon, so be sure to tap them all. In addition to the wild-spawns, you will also be able to hatch unique Pokémon from7 km Eggsas part of this event, includingDelibird, Cherubi, Munchlax, and Skwovet, some of which may also be shiny.
All Sweet Discoveries Event Rewards
Collect Various Research Rewards, Avatar Items, & More
Throughout the Sweet Discoveries event, you will have the opportunity to participate in both Field Research Tasks and Timed Research Tasks, the latter of which will also have a paid version with additional rewards. As for the Field Research Tasks rewards, you can expect to berewarded with Stardust as well as encounters with some of the event-themed Pokémon.
For the Timed Research, rewards will include a Mossy Lure Module, which can be used to increase the odds of Apple spawns during the event, as well asone Tart Apple, one Sweet Apple, and more encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Those who participate in the $1.99 Paid Time Research will have access to further rewards in addition to those previously mentioned.
The Paid Timed Research rewards will include two Mossy Lure Modulesto be used for the event, as well as even more encounters with event-themed Pokémon, increasing the chances of procuring a shiny and enough candy to evolve Applin. However, keep in mind that timed research will expire with the event, and any remainingrewards must be claimed by April 29 at 8 pm local time, otherwise, they will be forfeited.
While not guaranteed to produce a specific reward, players can also participate in PokéStop showcases that will be happening during the event, likely featuring Applin or one of its evolutions. Additionally,an Applin Headband and Apron for avatarswill also be available during the event, but unlike other aspects of the event, they will remain available following the conclusion of the Sweet Discoveries Event.
