An EnglishPokemonfan and artist put pencil to paper and sketched their take on what they believed a “biblically accurate” Palkia would look like. The artist then posted their handiwork on social media, where otherPokemonfans praised their work in the comments.

Known as the Spatial Pokemon, Palkia is a Water and Dragon dual-type Pokemon and was the box legendary of 2006’sPokemon Pearlfor the Nintendo DS, as well as the 2021 remakePokemon Shining Pearlon the Switch. In those games,Palkia could be battled and caughtatop Mt. Coronet at the Spear Pillar late into the main story. With a low catch rate, Palkia was not an easy Pokemon to obtain, but could quickly turn the tide of a battle with its signature move Spacial Rend. Palkia was also featured alongside itsPokemon Diamondcounterpart Dialga in 2022’sPokemon Legends: Arceus, where it was referred to as “almighty Sinnoh” by the Pearl Clan. One fan artist decided to amplify Palkia’s legendary status to a divine level with their work.

On Reddit, a London-based user named mehchinegun, also known as KatalystComics, drew a digital interpretation of a biblically-accurate Palkia. They posted their finished work on the r/pokemon subreddit. While Palkia is usually seen as a pink, bipedal dragon with pearls adorning its body, mehchinegun opted to go for a grayscale color scheme, with the only color being their signature on the bottom right. The art itself was inspired byOrigin Forme Palkia fromPokemon Legends: Arceus, where Palkia was transformed into a quadruped. In mehchinegun’s work, Palkia’s face was replaced with a skull, and its body was also slimmed down to a skeletal visage. Plus, a pair of angelic wings was placed upon Palkia’s back, and two angelic rings surrounded its body, with eyes adorned across the surface of the rings as well as Palkia’s shoulders in lieu of the traditional pearls.

The background of mehchinegun’s work was adorned by faint flames, which may be inspired by one of the horses of the mythological Four Horsemen, though it is not clear which of these horses Palkia would represent. On r/pokemon, mehchinegun’s work had over 400 upvotes within the first seven hours of posting. One of the comments stated thatthis biblically accurate Pokemonwas preferable to the original, official designs for Palkia, which is a testament to this piece of fan art.

ThoughPokemonhas yet to outright design any angels orangelic beings in official games, fan artists such as mehchinegun have stepped up to fill that niche. With biblically-accurate angels being one of the trends for fan artists to work with, only time will tell what fans will create next.
