The upcomingPokemon Scarlet and Violetgames will mark nine generations ofPokemongames. While there have been numerousPokemongames released over the years, many fans still have a soft spot in their hearts for the originals. The Generation 1 Pokemon remain some of the most popular that the franchise has produced, and so it’s no surprise that there’s still plenty of fan art made in their honor to this day.
One fan artist recently re-imagined the Generation 1 starter Pokemon by giving them Halloween-themed makeovers. Reddit user scrazyone1 shared their creation to thePokemonsubreddit, showing skeleton versions ofBulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu. While Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle were the starters inPokemon Red and Blue, Pikachu was the sole starter Pokemon inPokemon Yellow.

These Pokemon Halloween designs were well-received by fans, with the post earning nearly 2,000 upvotes at the time of this writing. It seems many are impressed with the Halloween versions of the Generation 1 starter Pokemon, particularly Pikachu’s yellow and black color scheme and Bulbasaur’s pumpkin. It’s impressive work, but it’s not the first time that scrazyone1 has re-imaginedGeneration 1 Pokemon.
Some of scrazyone1’s other work has seen the artist create Venom versions of Pokemon, showing what various Pokemon would look like if they were paired with the Venom symbiote of Marvel Comics fame. In one previous post, scrazyone1 created aVenom version of Pikachu, for example. So Pikachu fans can not only see the Halloween version of the Pokemon in this post, but also what Pikachu would look like as Venom.
Scrazyone1 also created a Venom version of Gengar. TheVenom Gengar designturns Gengar a darker shade of purple, while also giving the popular Ghost-type Pokemon sharp teeth and Venom-style eyes. All of scrazyone1’s designs like this have been well-received by the community, and it will be interesting to see what they make next.
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if all the Generation 1 starter Pokemon return inPokemon Scarlet and Violetor if they’re left out of the newest games. As it stands, only Pikachu has been confirmed for thePokemon Scarlet and VioletPokedex, with no sign of Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle in any of the trailers released so far. However, there’s still about five months or so to go before thePokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease daterolls around, so there’s still plenty of time for the Generation 1 starters to pop up in a trailer.
