A major change recently implemented by Niantic on its mobile titlePokemon GOhas been reversed by the company, likely stirring up more negative feelings within the video game’s community. With somany changes inPokemon GOthat the player base does not agree on, this seems to be another blow for the franchise’s mobile game.Reaching its seventh anniversary this 2023,Pokemon GOhas been a survivor in the mobile game market. Not only did it continue existing through a worldwide pandemic, it also bumped revenue during one of the most difficult times the world has recently seen. This can be credited to Niantic’s swiftPokemon GOworkarounds during COVID-19, allowing fans to play the game even while stuck at home. Now, it seems all the good Niantic has done for the title is backfiring, especially since the changes it implemented during lockdown are being reverted to its original functions.RELATED:Pokemon GO Confirms Mega Legendary Pokemon DebutOne of the most recent changes thatPokemon GOhas implemented involved the interaction radius of wild spawns in the mobile title. Confirmed by a representative and even popular content creator PokeDaxi on Twitter, the change increased the distance with which players can interact with wild spawns on theirPokemon GOworld map. However, according to the Niantic Support Twitter account, the devs are reverting this change due to it essentially being a bug. This supposed increase in radius came out when they were trying to improve Pokemon encounters when a player’s device is experiencing GPS drift.

Of course, many fans expressed their disappointment in this announcement over Twitter, even if there are many within the community who seem to have already expected this kind of behavior from Niantic. Even though theincrease inPokemon GOwild spawn radius interactionsseemed to have been confirmed by Niantic, content creators were not able to get renewed confirmation from the company about the change itself. This lack of communication from the company, combined with the reversal of features, is probably what the player base is most disappointed about when it comes toPokemon GO.

The only good thing thatplayers ofPokemon GOcan likely take away from Niantic’s tweet is that they seem to be taking into consideration the reaction about the radius increase. Unfortunately, the community may have to wait a long time for anything to improve, if there will be anything that will be changed at all, given the company’s track record when it comes to implementing anything from the fan base’s feedback.

Pokemon GOis out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
