A beloved actor among fans to take over asWolverinein theMarvel Cinematic Universehas detailed his talks with the studio. Hugh Jackman has become synonymous with Wolverine in live-action. The actor not only played the main role in Fox’s original X-Men movies but also appeared in multiple entries of the younger timeline and led aWolverine movie trilogy.
Jackman’s MCU debut came alongside Ryan Reynolds inDeadpool & Wolverine, which has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. That suggests the actor could appear infuture MCU movies, particularlyAvengers: Doomsday, which had its cast revealed and will include multiple actors from Fox’s original X-Men franchise. However, Jackman is 56, which should rule out another decade of playing Wolverine.

Multiple actors have become popular Wolverine choices over the past few years, and one of them has now addressed his Marvel chances. Speaking withThe Playlist,Taron Egerton claimed he had talks with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. However, that did not lead to a specific role. Egerton would join the MCU for the right character. Check out the full quote below:
“Yeah, I did meet with Kevin Feige once, but it didn’t lead to anything specific. It was more of a general meeting, and I think that’s all it ever was. I think there’s an expectation with Marvel that you’re signing on for a long journey. And that’s a big commitment. So unless the character is something I really, really connect with, it’s not something I’m rushing into.”
What Taron Egerton’s Marvel Casting Comments Mean
The Actor Would Be Up To Joining The MCU On One Condition
Based on his comments, it does not seem likely that Taron Egerton will play the MCU’s Wolverine. As was the case for theKingsmanfranchise star,Marvel often has general meetings with talent, trying to find a way forward for a role or project. A famous case of that is Keanu Reeves, who has had multiple meetings with Marvel.
Feige has even said in the past that Marvel talks with Reeves for nearly every MCU movie. However, the actor has yet to join the franchise. All that is to say that just because he had a meeting with Marvel in the past, that does not mean that Egerton is going to join the MCU, much less as Wolverine.
Egerton’s comments about the Marvel commitment are interesting. After all, if he were to be cast in the MCU, he would most likely have to sign a long contract. If it is for a character that he really connects with, then Egerton would be up for it. He previously toldThe New York Timeshe would be “excited” about playing Wolverine.
Our Take On Taron Egerton’s Marvel Casting Comments
While it does not mean that he is joining Marvel, Taron Egerton’s comments about meeting Kevin Feige are exciting. It shows thatMarvel is at least aware of his talents, and with a fan campaign for Egerton to play Wolverine, that could end up being his role down the road. However, Hugh Jackman’s time asWolverinemight not be over yet.
