Nearly two years after its release and the community surroundingRed Dead Redemption 2continues to find new ways to expand its world. Be it cool new details aboutcharacters like Jack Marstonor fun ways to interact with the world that Rockstar Games has created, it seems likeRDR 2players will never run out of things to do.
Not to be outdone, oneRed Dead Redemption 2player (u/laconicgrin) has sought to recreate a grisly (grizzly?) scene from Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar-winning performance in The Revenant. Since DiCaprio isn’t in properRed Dead Redemption2, the player had to use Arthur Morgan as a stand-in, but the rest of the images paint a similar picture to the film.

For those that might not be familiar withThe Revenant, there is a violent scene in whichDiCaprio’s character, Hugh Glass, is attacked by a grizzly bear. Although it seems unlikely that Glass is going to escape, he eventually gets hold of a firearm and kills the bear. Still, his wounds appear fatal and thus the plot ofThe Revenantthickens.
In thisRed Dead Redemption 2recreation, the player is once again attacked by a grizzly bear and gains the upper hand. This time, the player is seen on their horse, so it isn’t entirely accurate to the Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu film. Mostly the key pieces are on display, and theRed Dead Redemption 2player wanted to share their experience with the community.
AlthoughThe Revenantis not aclassic Western in the sense thatRed Dead Redemption 2is, the film does share a lot of themes with the genre. Revenge is a big point in the film, as DiCaprio’s Glass looks to find a group that betrayed him. Like Arthur Morgan, he’s a character that seeks to do good but understands the cost of survival in some cases.
Red Dead Redemption 2is about to celebrate its second anniversary at the end of October, but Rockstar has not announced any concrete plans to celebrate. There have been rumors and leaks concerning aHalloween event for Red Dead Online, but nothing has been made official just yet. But given that there are files for undead characters and a full Halloween Pass, it seems very likely that there is something in the cards.
Single-player, on other hand, is locked in as-is for the time being. There may be anext-gen port ofRed Dead Redemption2in the future, but right now players are left finding their own fun, like recreating a scene from a popular movie.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
