Fan-favorite vigilanteRed Hoodis breaking away from the Bat-Family and striking out in a brand-new city, and he’s teaming up with an unexpected hero. It’s been a bit since Jason Todd has held down his own series. Now he’s heading back into the spotlight for a series that promises to be just as brutal and violent as he is.
This September, creators Gretchen Felker-Martin and Jeff Spokes are teaming up forRed Hood #1, a brand-new ongoing seriesstarring the Bat-Family’s prodigal son. The new book sees Jason split from Gotham and head for New Angelique, a New Orleans-inspired city rife with corruption.

Thankfully,Red Hood won’t be alone as New Angelique is also the new residence for Helena Bertinelli, aka the Huntress. Together, they may be the only thing that can stop a serial killer from targeting cops. Not only is this Jason’s first series in a hot minute, it’s also going to be for mature readers only.
Red Hood and Huntress Leave Gotham to Stop Crime in a Desperate City
Jason and Helena are Heading to New Angelique for a Brutal, Mature Series
Ever since he returned to the land of the living,Jason Todd has had a rough timefinding where he fits in the larger DC Universe. He tried operating solo for a bit and once he toned things down, he attempted some team-ups with the Bat-Family. He also formed his own team, the Outlaws (several incarnations, in fact). Unfortunately, he’s never been able to put down roots in one place, nor develop bonds with people that last incredibly long (beyond the Bat-Family, of course). Butit hasn’t stopped Red Hood from trying, even as he fights his incredibly dark battles.
This series is promising a lot ofbig changes for Red Hood. He’s leaving Gotham for an entirely new stomping ground and abandoning the Bat-Family for the Huntress. Of course, that assumes that the Huntress doesn’t have her own agenda in New Angelique. It’ll be interesting to see what becomes of the two while in this new city, particularly as this series will have a lot more freedom given its 17+ rating. Who knows, this could be the start of a brand-new chapter for Red Hood and give his fans something they’ve been hoping to see for years.

Jason Todd’s New Series is an Opportunity to Let Red Hood Thrive
Red Hood Deserves to Grow Apart from the Bat-Family
Gotham is a big place, but there’s not enough room for every member to thrive. Red Hood has been around long enough to have his own city, much like how Nightwing left Gotham behind to protect Blüdhaven. Red Hood has had his difficulties, but he’s reined in his more lethal impulses and is more than able to keep a city safe without crossing a line. While it remains to be seen what will become of his partnership with the Huntress, it’s still going to be cool to see howRed Hoodtakes to protecting his new city.
Red Hood #1is available from DC Comics on September 10th, 2025.
