Warning: Spoilers ahead forResident Alienseason 4, episode 8, “Mine Town.“One ofResident Alien’s most sporadic characters just returned in season 4, episode 8, “Mine Town,” and their renewed presence could easily serve as the catalyst to a partnership that has been teased pretty much since the beginning of the show. With the confirmation thatResident Alienseason 4 will be the show’s final outing, the sci-fi dramedy has just two episodes remaining.

So, showrunner Chris Sheridan will soon be parting ways with theResident Aliencastas the residents of Patience, Colorado prepare for what looks like will be a thrilling finale. Before the show ends for good, it looks like two ofResident Alien’s best charactersare set up for a long-awaited team-up.

Robert Showing Up In Patience Means Peter Bach Can’t Be Far Behind

The Original Alien Tracker Is Perfectly Set Up For Another Resident Alien Comeback

“Mine Town” is the seventhResident Alienepisode in which Paul Piaskowski’s Robert Hutchins appears. It’s not a huge tally, but his presence always seems to herald the coming of a major event in the story. After disappearing near the start of season 4 when Bruce (Jinkx Monsoon) helped him escape the Greys' moon base, he’s just been tempted back to Patience.

I’m sure a father/son reunion is on the cards forResident Alien’s big finale.

Judah Prehn as Max Hawthorne in Resident Alien

The podcasting skills of Elizabeth Bowen’s Deputy Liv Baker are what reached Robert, who believed his father to be dead - until Liv told Robert otherwise in “Mine Town.” So, I’m sure a father/son reunion is on the cards forResident Alien’s big finale. WhileLiv has no way of contacting Peter “The Alien Tracker” Bach(Terry O’Quinn), Robert’s father can reach out to Patience’s deputy sheriff.

Therefore, from a storytelling perspective, it’s only a matter of time before Peter finds out that Robert has found his way to Patience and is looking for his father. With so little of the show remaining, it would make sense if Peter’sResident Alienreturn were to happen very soon.

Resident Alien Season 4’s Final 2 Episodes Are Likely To Include BOTH Alien Trackers Now

Max Hawthorne Is Also Technically An Alien Tracker

What makes Peter Bach’s imminent comeback especially interesting is that he technically isn’t the only Alien Tracker anymore. InResident Alienseason 3, with Peter believed to have died while saving his son, Judah Prehn’s Max Hawthorne took it upon himself to inherit the title. Although he lacks Peter’s experience,Max is actually a worthy successor.

Peter and Max are the only two knownResident Aliencharacters who can see Harry’s real facethrough his molecular reconstruction. However, that ability is not limited to being able to identify Harry - it works on all aliens. So, they’ll both be vital figures when it comes to identifying the constantly shapeshifting Mantid.

Peter and Max have met before, but have understandably never teamed up. Until recently, Max was one of the few characters to know about Harry’s true nature, and was helping to conceal the identity of Alan Tudyk’s character. So, it makes sense that the man trying to track Harry would be so unlikely to be an ally to Max. Now, that’s all changed.

Peter Bach Is The Perfect Character To Show Up Before The End Of Resident Alien Season 4

Terry O’Quinn’s Character Is Owed A Big Farewell

Peter Bach has been in marginally moreResident Alienepisodes than his son, with Terry O’Quinn’s character racking up 12 appearances by the end of “Mine Town.” However, he’s generally been a more important figure than Robert, who has always felt like something of an afterthought or a justification for Peter’s arc.

Peter’s experience, alien-spotting ability, and heavily-armed new body, essentially make him a custom-built tool to help take down the murderous insectoid.

With the Mantid proving to be such a formidable villain after already coming back from the dead at least once, Peter’s experience, alien-spotting ability, and heavily-armed new body, essentially make him a custom-built tool to help take down the murderous insectoid. Plus,Peter is just generally a great character, so it would be a shame for him to miss the finale.

Max Could Properly Inherit The Role Of “The Alien Tracker” Before Season 4 Ends

Peter’s Death Would Mean Max’s Responsibilities Increasing

Peter has already “died” inResident Alienonce before, while liberating his son near the end of season 2. If it hadn’t been for the intervention of General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) and her military resources, Terry O’Quinn’s character would have perished for good. That said, his first death could foreshadow his second, and probably final, demise.

It stands to reason that Peter could die fighting the Mantid, which may also be while once more protecting his son from alien threats.

Therefore, it stands to reason that Peter could die fighting the Mantid, which may also be while once more protecting his son from alien threats. If so, then theResident Alienuniverse would not lack a replacement Alien Tracker. Instead,Max Hawthorne could take over from Terry O’Quinn’s character.

Max has already started to toy with the idea of becoming the Alien Trackeron a full-time basis, insisting during certain sequences that people use the title to address him. With how little success he’s had tracking aliens without assistance, it isn’t really something that has caught on yet. The fact that the original Alien Tracker is still alive doesn’t help matters, either.

That said,I wouldn’t be surprised if Peter were to die before season 4 ends, and officially passes his title onto Max, who goes on to adopt the role and take it more seriously. There are very few people who have the genetic mutation that allows them both to see aliens, which creates a strong narrative connection between them both.

So, althoughthere aren’t many characters who could take over from Peter, Max is one of the best bets to do so. Sadly, it’s unlikely that we’ll get to see much of Max in action in his new role - if that is indeed what his future holds. That said, a briefResident Alientime jump isn’t out of the question to end the show.
