Quantic Dream is a popular developer, having made the likes ofDetroit: Become Human, Beyond Two Souls, andHeavy Rainover the past decade or so. Officially, it’s unknown what Quantic Dream is working on now, but ever since September 2021, it’s been rumored to be a newStar Warsgame. It makes sense given the recentpush by Lucasfilm Games to get moreStar Warscontentin the pipeline, especially with EA’s exclusivity contract on its way out the door.
Now, new details about this game have potentially come to light thanks to Jeff Grubb, who is known for having accurate insider information. That said, all rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, especially since Quantic Dream hasn’t confirmed anything about a newStar Warsgame itself.

According to Grubb, this new title is calledStar Wars Eclipseand is “ready to be announced soon.” He said “before the end of the year,” and the logical deduction from that isthe Game Awards 2021, which recently confirmed a showcase of 40-50 games (with new game reveals in the double digits). As such, fans could very well likely know the veracity of this information soon enough.
Furthermore, while Grubb wasn’t certain of all the details, he believes thatStar Wars Eclipseisset during the High Republic Era. Fans of the franchise know that the High Republic was introduced early this year with new comics, books, and characters, and that the High Republic itself was a time of peace 200 years before the prequel trilogy thanks to the strong presence of Jedi throughout the galaxy.
That’s about all, but it sounds intriguing, nonetheless. Other rumors about the game have suggested it’s been indevelopment for 18 months and thatStar Wars Eclipseis essentially nothing likeHeavy RainorDetroit: Become Human. The keywords used to describe it has been “action-adventure,” “open-world,” and “multiplayer,” which could, in theory, fit the typical Quantic Dream mold or could suggest that Quantic Dream is branching out with this game.
Some have been worried about the influx ofStar Warsgame announcements here lately. Everything fromLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaand theKOTOR Remaketo Ubisoft’sStar Warsgame andEA’s all-but-officially-confirmedStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2has led to worry about the quality of the games as well as the treatment of the IP. That said, fans should keep in mind the past few years have been incredibly slow forStar Warsgames compared to earlier years. MoreStar Warsis a good thing, because who knows what game will have an impact likeKOTORnext.
