The zany world of Seth Rogen’s food-focused animated comedy is back withSausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 2, andScreenRanthas first-look images for the new episodes. The Prime Video series,co-created by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir, serves as a sequel to their 2016 film of the same name, with Frank and the rest of the anthropomorphic foods trying to build a new society after defeating humans. Though having garnered mixed reviews,Sausage Party: Foodtopiaenjoyed enough viewership success to net an early season 2 renewal.
With just shy of two months left to go until its return,ScreenRantis proud to exclusively present first-look images fromSausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 2. The stills, which can be seen in the gallery below, revealthe introduction of a new human survivor, Patti Harrison’s Jill, as well as new food character Dijon (Marion Cotillard), described as “a bada– warrior-mustard princess who pilots the most effective humey in New Foodland”, as Frank begins his takeover of the post-apocalyptic society.

In addition to Harrison and Cotillard,Sausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 2 is set to introduceWorkaholicsalum Jillian Bell as Trish, “an empathic nut that puts the wellbeing of New Foodland above all else”, as well as longtime Rogen collaborator Martin Starr as Sherman, “Trish’s right-hand man and a cake who is not all that he appears to be”. What The Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 Images Mean For The Show’s Return
Frank May Have Multiple New Threats On The Way
The reveal of a new human character comes as an exciting new development for the show in the wake of theSausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 1 ending, which teased the existence of other surviving humans in the world. In the midst of Frank taking over the titular society with the help of Will Forte’s Jack, a drone was seen observing the scene from high above, though its owner was never shown. With the season 2 image showing Jill and Jack in a pair ofTron-like light suits, it not only seems likely that the drone is hers, but that she may test Jack’s loyalty to Frank.
As for Marion Cotillard’s Dijon, the image of her andMichael Cera’s Barryabout to fight makes herSausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 2 arc a curious one. The confident smiles on both of their faces while in a weapons room makes it feel as though they’re simply sparring with one another in preparation for a bigger fight. However, with season 1 having seen Sam Richardson’s Julius and Stephanie Beard’s Jeri becoming the main antagonists of the prior season, the Oscar winner’s character may very well pose a threat to Frank’s rule.

This is also likely to create an emotional journey for Barry as he tries to determine where his own loyalties lie. Frank’s conquering of Foodtopia with Jack’s help came as a disappointment to Cera’s character, as well as the rest of the food, and thus, ifRogen’s characterbecomes too vicious in his ruling,Barry might find himself swayed by Dijon to turn against his oldest friend.
Our Take On The Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 Images
The Show Looks To Be Going In Exciting New Directions
While the show’s first season was a broadly fun return to the wild world Rogen and co. created in the film, the images forSausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 2 have already fueled my excitement about how it will build on the lessons learned from the debut episodes. Season 1 shifted to a politically themed narrative from the religious satire of the film, and it had some decent commentary, but the ending left it in a really interesting place to take the show in an exciting new direction, and the images look to be delivering that.
Sausage Party: Foodtopiaseason 2 begins streaming on Prime Video on August 13.
