The second season ofKomi Can’t Communicateis set to premiere on April 6, the anime’sofficial website announcedon Wednesday. A new cast member was also revealed alongside the new opening and ending theme songs and key visual.

Shin’ichirō Kamio (Ensemble Stars’Riou,Blue Period’sKoigakubo) joins the series as Makoto Katai, a young delinquent who is also bad at communicating. The opening theme, “Ao 100 Iro” will be performed by Miku Itō, while FantasticYouth will perform the ending theme, “Koshaberi Biyori”.

Thesecond season will airon TV Tokyo and affiliated channels during the 12:00 a.m. JST time slot. Netflix will then stream the series sometime in 2022. Tomohito Oda’sKomi Can’t Communicatemanga is serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine as part of the Shōnen Sunday Comics imprint. The series began its run in 2016 and has been collected into 24 tankōbon volumes throughout its run so far. The popular coming-of-age series has over 6 million copies in circulation as of December 2021.

The animeadaptation first premieredduring the Fall 2021 season. The series ran for 12 episodes and aired on TV Tokyo. The series is animated by OLM, the studio best known for working on thePokemonfilms.

Kazuki Kawagoe (Beyblade Burst,Ikebukuro West Gate Park) directed the first season with Ayumu Watanabe (Major 2nd, Space Brothers) serving as chief director. Hitomi Mieno (The Case Study of Vanitas, The Detective Is Already Dead)handled the series composition, while Yukari Hashimoto (Toradora!, March Comes In Like a Lion) composed the music.

VIZ Media publishes the manga in English and has released 18 volumes so far. Netflix owns the anime’s streaming rights while Tencent Video licenses the series in China.
