Punisher is Back in an Adults-Only Red Band Series
It’s Been Years, But Marvel is Bringing Frank Castle Out of Retirement
Frank Castle has been fighting a one-man war on crime for decades, and he’s known all the world over for his relentless dedication to making criminals pay. The Punisher’s crusade went to a whole different level just a few years ago, when Frank joined the secret assassin order, the Hand, later becoming the group’s leader. However,Punisher’s time with the Handcame to an end after he was captured by heroes who feared the power of the Beast that Frank attained. ThePunisher managed to use the last of his power to escape to Weirdworld and hasn’t been seen since.
It’s nice to see Frank Castle, especially since it looked like Marvel Comics was attempting to replace him with Joe Garrison, an ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who briefly starred in a few miniseries as the Maervel Universe’s ‘new’ Punisher. This ‘back to basics’ approach is sure to be welcome among Punisher fans, especially now that Marvel Comics is embracing the Red Band format, which allows creators to feature content unsuitable for its general publications.Marvel is gearing up for a proper return of the Punisher, and that’s going to be welcome among fans who have been patiently waiting to see Frank again.
