Back in 2023, Warner Bros. sued Paramount over the fact that manySouth Parkspecials were created as Paramount+ originals, and WBD asserts that they violated the standing $500 million deal that secured the exclusive streaming rights for Max (viaTHR.) More recently,South Parkcreators Trey Parker and Matt Stone also sued Paramount for alleged interference in their negotiations with other companies like Warner Bros. and Netflix(viaTHR).
Lawyers for Parker and Stone’s company,Park County, alleged that incoming executive Jeff Shell directed both Warner Bros. and Netflix to allow Paramount+ a 12-month window for new episodes ofSouth Parkand to only give Park County a five-year deal instead of a 10-year agreement.
