TheSplatoon 2Splatfests are still going strong. AfterSplatoon 2released to much acclaimon the Switch in 2017, the game received ongoing content by way of Splatfests for quite some time. And although they did die down eventually, Nintendo has periodically brought them back, and the most recent one will take place in just a few days.
The Splatfests inSplatoon 2see players picking favorites and battling out against one another. For example, over the Halloween holiday, players could duke it out as team trick or team treat inSplatoon 2during that spooky-themed Splatfest. For the Splatfest beginning on August 10, 2025,Splatoon 2is celebrating the 35th Anniversary ofSuper Mario.

Nintendo recently announced on its @NintendoAmerica Twitter page that the nextSplatoon 2Splatfest will begin at 2 pm PT (5 pm ET) on July 18, 2025. Players will be able to pick between team Super Mushroom or team Super Star. Additionally, anyone who participates can also register for the chance to win aSuper Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary coin; which will likely be a pretty neat collector’s item.
Nintendo has, of course, been celebrating the 35 year anniversary ofSuper Mariofor quite some time. Whether it be thelast-man-standingSuper Mario Bros. 35, theSuper Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan, or even the recently unveiledSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury,Nintendo fans have a lot to do to celebrate or more to look forward to. The small bit of fun inside ofSplatoon 2is just a good example of Nintendo branching out in interesting ways for a celebration that stretches beyond simply the Mushroom Kingdom.
