Star Wars’new TV show will have a true “Return of the Jedi” beyond what we saw at the end of George Lucas' original trilogy.Return of the Jediis more about the ideals of the Jedi coming back through Luke Skywalker. However, the upcoming season ofStar Wars: Visionsshould give us the return of a full Jedi Order.

Star Wars: VisionsVolume 3 releases this year, an anthology of non-canonical animated shorts. One of the best Volume 1 stories was “The Ninth Jedi”, and a sequel has already been announced for Volume 3 and an entire spin-off series releasing next year.As such, the world of “The Ninth Jedi” can easily give us a true “Return of the Jedi”.

Return Of The Jedi Is Really About A Singular Jedi

Having been trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda in the ways of the Jedi (combined with his own studies between episodes), Luke Skywalker was a full-fledged Jedi Knight in George Lucas’Return of the Jedi. However, Luke is the galaxy’s only known and official Jedi Knight by the end of the final original trilogy movie.

Likewise, it remains that way for more than a few years afterward in theStar Warstimeline as Luke gathers more knowledge and prepares to construct his very ownJedi academy on the world of Ossus. The original trilogy’s “Return of the Jedi” is really only about the return of a singular sole Jedi Knight.

Additionally, we know that Luke’s Jedi academy fails thanks to Ben Solo’s corruption to the dark side, meaning that the next best chance we have at seeing the return of a full Jedi Order will be inRey Skywalker’s upcoming New Jedi Order moviethat’s currently still in development.

However,Star Warsfans will see another kind of Jedi Order returning much sooner on television, albeit non-canonically.

It’s Time To See An Entire Jedi Order Return

In the world of “The Ninth Jedi”, the galaxy is essentially in a future Dark Ages. The Jedi are believed to be extinct, having been gone for generations with the Force itself fading from memory. Multiple Dark side users exist in this galaxy as well.

However, a character known as Margrave Juro seeks to bring back the Jedi Order as seen inStar Wars: VisionsVolume 1, having commissionedunique lightsabers that change color based on the wielders' alignment to the Force, forged sole saber smith still possessing the ancient knowledge to make them.

As was seen in this initial episode, Juro was joined by this saber smith’s daughter Kara, who is ultimately dubbed The Ninth Jedi after dueling several Sith acolytes. As such, the episode ends with the desire to rebuild a full Jedi Order in the face of all the dark forces present across this version of theStar Warsgalaxy.

Keeping that in mind, it should be fascinating to see the return of a full Jedi Order in Volume 3’s sequel episodes and the subsequent spin-off series. After all, it’s a concept we’ve yet to actually see in the mainStar Warscanon.
