Starlight appearing inGen Vseason 2 all but confirms a theory regarding Marie’s role inThe Boysseason 5.Gen Vseason 2is fast approaching, with its premiere on June 02, 2025. The series has additional stakes, given that it’s set only months before the conclusion ofThe Boys.
Not only willGen V’ssophomore season have to carry on with its own storytelling, but itwill also connect to the events surrounding Homelander and the Boys, given that Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordan appeared inThe Boysseason 4. With the flagship show’s final episodes fast approaching,Gen V’scharacters will have to figure out where they stand.

Cate and Sam aided Homelander and the Seven inThe Boysseason 4’s ending, but a lot can change in the spinoff show’s upcoming eight episodes. What matters even more, however, is where Marie stands, as she’s quickly proven to be one of the most powerful Supes in the world, as teased by the trailer.
Starlight In Gen V Surely Means Marie Will Join Butcher’s Crew
Starlight Helps Marie, Marie Helps Starlight
Erin Moriarty’s role inGen Vseason 2 is one of the first aspects exhibited in the new trailer, setting up some pivotal plot moments. We now knowMarie’s motivation for returning to Godolkin following the travesty of season 1, which is that she’s going to be gathering information for Starlighton the new dean, played by Hamish Linklater.
Given that Starlight and Marie are working together inGen Vseason 2,it seems apparent that Marie will return the favor inThe Boysseason 5, which could have drastic consequences for the series, particularly for Homelander. This would be an incredible boost for Butcher and his crew.

What Marie In The Boys Season 5 Would Mean
Marie Is A Threat To The Seven
The idea of Marie joiningThe Boysseason 5 on Butcher’s side has circulated sinceGen Vrevealed her powers. Thesimilarities to what Victoria Neuman could do make Marie an extraordinarily powerful asset, with many expecting she could blow Homelander up from the inside. However, I feel as if it won’t be that simple.
Marie could still be an integral asset to the Boys, but it feels critical that Homelander be killed by one of his long-term enemies, like Butcher.

There are two potential blockers to Marie killing Homelander, one being practicality and the other being narrative. First,we have no idea whether Marie’s powers would actually work on Homelander. We’ve already seen examples of Victoria Neuman struggling to kill supes with superhuman strength, such as Tony.
A similar logic would likely apply to Marie attempting to kill Homelander. Marie could still be an integral asset to the Boys, but it feels critical that Homelander be killed by one of his long-term enemies, like Butcher. Having a character fromGen Vget the killing blow inThe Boyswould be narratively unfulfilling.
