As indicated byour reviewof the Nintendo Switch exclusive,Super Mario Odyssey, the platformer is easily one of the best games that the Big N has ever put out, with practically every inch of the title being stuffed to the brim with fun and fantastic content. Nevertheless, one fan decided that the game could make room for even more gameplay by creating a mod that adds a fan-favorite level from the classic N64 release,Banjo-Kazooie.
Thanks to the work of the modder and YouTuber known as ItzSka,Super Mario Odysseyplayers can enjoy a a full custom import of the Clanker’s Cavern level fromBanjo-Kazooie, complete with the stage’s original layout and soundtrack. What’s more is that the modder incorporated 6 total Power Moons by turning them into the shape of the N64 title’s Jiggies, and altered the design of the coins fromSuper Mario Odysseyto reflect that ofBanjo-Kazooie’s collectible golden notes.
In addition to the total conversion ofBanjo-Kazooie’s Clanker’s Cavern level, theSuper Mario Odysseymod also adds a bunch of different challenges that will require the work of bothMario and Cappyto complete. Those who download and apply the mod will find the stage in the Moon Pipe that was relocated to right in front of the Odyssey of Cap Kingdom. All one needs to make it work is a Story Completed game save with the Cap Kingdom Moon Rock broken open.
It’s been quite a while since the release of any officialBanjo-Kazooieproducts, soSuper Mario Odysseyfans willing to utilize the aforementioned mod will likely delight in the ability to revisit a segment of the beloved N64 title on the Switch. And although everyone’s favorite bear and bird team has yet to get their own game for the current generation, perhaps we will see them show up as downloadable characters inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateat some point down the line.
