BleedingCool, and fans, have alsonoticed the absence of a few notable names, such asthe creators of Krypto, the Fortress of Solitude, and Jimmy Olsen.

Some DC Fans Are Unhappy That “Superman” Left Out Notable Names Of Comic Creators From Its End Credits

Including Jimmy Olsen And Krypto’s Creators

Notable comic creators' names missing from theSupermancredits, per BleedingCool.com,include Si Barry, who helped create Krypto the Superdog, as well as Jerry Coleman and Wayne Boring, who introduced the Fortress of Solitude toSupermanlore. These and other names stand out because of the way the film draws on their contributions significantly.

This is especially noteworthy, considering that a long list of authors and artists are, in fact, credited in the film. Si Barry’s Krypto co-creator Curt Swan, for instance, does receive a nod from the filmmakers. Warren Ellis gets a “Thank You” for the Engineer, but his co-creator Tom Raney does not.

This is why the missing names drew the attention of loyal DC Comics fans. Of course, “Thank Yous” and “Acknowledgements” are a tricky thing; there are always going to be oversights and omissions, especially when it comes to acharacter who has ninety years of publicationunder his Super-belt. At the same time, the creators cited here do deserve inclusion.

The “Great Feeling” At DC Comics

Although some DC fans who have screenedSupermanalready have expressed displeasure at the names of select creators who were not included in the end credits, there is also ample evidence that current DC artists and authors have been galvanized by the film, and by early audience reactions to it.

Supermanwill have its shortcomings, and its imperfections, but hopefully, fans can express why creator credits are so important on a film like this.

Author Scott Snyder, as just one example, posted that he is “really grateful” for the treatment he’s received from James Gunn and the filmmakers. Of course, both things can be true at the same time. There are creators who deserve to be thanked in the credits to Gunn’sSuperman, but aren’t, while overall, the production has been positive for DC Comics creators.

For fans, the idea should perhaps be to raise these justified concerns without being aggressively critical of the film as a whole. No movie is perfect, not on screen, or behind-the-scenes.Supermanwill have its shortcomings, and its imperfections, but hopefully, fans can express why creator credits are so important on a film like this.
