A newPokémon Trading Card Gameset calledPhantasmal Flameshas been revealed ahead of its release later this year.This is a meaningful year forTCG, as there have already been several important expansions released, and more to come. The next set will represent thereturn of Mega Evolutions toPokémon TCGafter several years – a strategic decision, since this will coincide with the release ofPokémon Legends: Z-A.
One of the upcoming sets that will feature Mega Evolutions is the now-revealedPhantasmal Flames. According to the report byPokébeach,Phantasmal Flameswill be the global market set that should combine and localize a total of three distinct Japanese products.

As mentioned by the outlet,the Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex decks will be combined with theInferno exset to compose thePhantasmal Flamesset forPokémon TCG.

According to the report,the upcomingTCGset will be released on November 14 in global markets. Meanwhile, the prerelease period forPhantasmal Flameswill occur between November 1 and November 9.
For reference, the three Japanese products will be released in the regional market in September, with the decks arriving in Japan on September 5 and theInferno Xset releasing on September 26. These products will precede the release of Ninja Spinner andStorm EmeraldainPokémon TCG.

Based on the Japanese release dates, it should take over a month for the products to be adapted and made available in the global market.Phantasmal Flameswill be the second set of theMega Evolutionera. Thefirst expansion will beMega Evolution, which will be released in September.

So far, little has been announced about thePhantasmal Flamesexpansion, but based on the information about the Japanese products, it’s possible to get a glimpse of what you can expect.
The set will feature Mega Gengar ex, Mega Diancie ex, and Mega Charizard ex as the cover Pokémon, and with them, you may expect to see Secret Rare cards for each of them.Phantasmal Flamesseems to hint at both the Ghost-type and Fire-type aspects of the set.
The expansion won’t be limited to these types in any way, but they will likely get better treatment. Aside from the three cards that have been revealed so far, it’s likely that this second set in theMega Evolutionera will also feature new Mega Evolution cards that weren’t available in the first set.
