It’s been quite some time since fans received a significant update aboutThe Division 2.The most successful looter shooter to come from Ubisoft to date, the game has seen its fair share of changes in the years since it launched. While Ubisoft was winding down support for the game,The Division 2fans ensured it would be getting new content. Little has been heard of the game since that announcement was made, but that’s changing. Unfortunately, it’s not all good news.

In an official blog post, Ubisoft shared a few updates on whatThe Division 2fans can expect in the near future. One of the most significant revelations is thatThe Division 2’s Specialization systemwill be receiving a revamp in the near future. Ubisoft, unfortunately, didn’t provide much more information than that, though fans can expect more details about the revamp in just a few days.

According to Ubisoft, fans will receive a video presentation “as soon as this Thursday” breaking down the Specialization revamp. The video will feature Expert Game Designer Trick Dempsey and will be the first in the returning series “Intelligence Annex,” which will release monthly episodes up until the reveal of the next big update. It’s a similar system to whatHalo Infinitehas been doing since its delay.

Speaking of delays, there was some unfortunate news contained in the blog posts. According to the post, the development team has made the decision to move the “new season, game mode, and associated content release to February 2022.” The goal is for the team at Ubisoft Massive to be able to pave the way forThe Division 2’s Title Updates in 2022, so it’s easy to understand why the move was necessary. However, it’s yet another big update to a game launching in February 2022, which is currently a packed window.

There’s more for fans to look forward to, though. There’s an event slated for when Season 7 ends in December, and Season 8 will officially be revealed in January. It’s admittedly a lot of information for Ubisoft to bundle into one blog post, even if there aren’t a lot of specifics about what fans will be receiving.

The news falls at an interesting time.Destiny 2,which isThe Division 2’sbiggest rival, is in a bit of a limbo period with its longest-ever season. It also has the massive Witch Queen expansion slated to release in February, the same window as the new content forThe Division 2.There’s also the question of when fans will seeThe Division: Heartland,a free-to-play game with no release window that leaked a few months ago.

The Division 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
