We’ll get a closer look at the younger versions of severalOutlandercharacters inOutlander: Blood of My Blood, and I’m particularly excited for one of them. The upcoming prequel spinoff series, which is set to premiere with two episodes on August 8th, 2025, will follow Jamie and Claire’s respective parents. Though this will be our first introduction to many characters, some names will be pretty familiar.

Many of the primarycharacters ofOutlander: Blood of My Bloodwere mentioned in the centralOutlanderseries, though they were never shown on screen. Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia Beauchamp, were never featured inOutlander, but they will be played by Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield, respectively.

Mrs. Fitz in Outlander

Similarly, actor Harriet Slater will be the first to bring Jamie’s mother, Ellen MacKenzie, to the screen in Starz’s new prequel. However, aside from this lot,we will see several characters fromOutlanderbrought toOutlander: Blood of My Blood, this time played by fresh actors to portray their younger selves. This is a significant draw to the spinoff series, and something to look eagerly forward to.

12Brian Fraser

Now Played By Jamie Roy

Jamie’s father, Brian Fraser, died a few years before the events ofOutlanderseason 1, but he was still brought to the screen a handful of times. Played by Andrew Whipp, we saw Brian through flashbacks and again in season 7 whenRoger and Briannawent further back in time.

Brian is one of the central protagonists ofOutlander: Blood of My Blood, where he will be played by Jamie Roy.It will be thrilling to get to know Brian as a young man, still eager to prove himself and completely swept away by love.

Hugh Ross as Arch Bug and Sarah Collier as Murdina Bug in Outlander season 7, episode 3

11Dougal MacKenzie

Now Played By Sam Retford

Unlike Brian, we really got to know Dougal MacKenzie inOutlander, where he was played by Graham McTavish. Part of what makes Dougal so intriguing as a character is his moral ambiguity. He could be a problem, but Dougal was also loved by Jamie and the rest of the MacKenzie family (in their way).

If Dougal was a reckless man in his older age, we can only imagine what he will be like in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Claire handing something to Uncle Lamb in Outlander

If Dougal was a reckless man in his older age, we can only imagine what he will be like inOutlander: Blood of My Blood. Sam Retford will play this younger version of Dougal, who is the brother of Ellen MacKenzie.Surely, he won’t be happy about his sister’s forbidden romance with a Fraser, and his hot head is guaranteed to be a problem.

10Colum MacKenzie

Now Played By Seamus McLean Ross

Colum MacKenzie was the Laird ofCastle Leoch inOutlander, and though his astute nature proved a challenge for Claire, he was a generally likable character. Unlike Dougal, Colum was calm and calculating, and, said and done, an excellent leader.

InOutlander: Blood of My Blood, we will meet a version of Colum (played by Seamus McLean Ross) that hasn’t yet taken over leadership of clan MacKenzie. It will be interesting to see what this means for his relationship with his brother, Dougal, especially as the topic of heir becomes more complicated.

Rupert in Outlander

9Lord Lovat

Now Played By Tony Curran

Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, was played by Clive Russell inOutlander, and he was a pretty nasty piece of work. He had little love for his grandson Jamie, but the feeling was intensely mutual. We learned then that Brian Fraser had been a bastard, and that Lord Lovat had made life miserable for Jamie’s father.

Now, inOutlander: Blood of My Blood, we will see all of this firsthand. Tony Curran plays Lord Lovat in the spinoff series, andteases indicate that this character will be essentially despised by everyone, especially the MacKenzies.

Angus in Outlander

8Jocasta Cameron

Now Played By Sadhbh Malin

Jocasta Cameron, originally Jocasta MacKenzie, is another sibling to Colum, Dougal, and Ellen. Played by Maria Doyle Kennedy inOutlander, Jocasta was both easy to hate and easy to love. Stubborn and a bit superficial, Jocasta is hardened by her age and experiences.

I’m intrigued to see how the younger version of Jocasta, played by Sadhbh Malin inOutlander: Blood of My Blood, will differ from her older counterpart.Perhaps Ellen’s sister will be a bit lighter and more optimistic before her several marriages. Or, maybe, Jocasta was simply born with the no-nonsense attitude.

7Mrs. Glenna Fitzgibbons

Now Played By Sally Messham

Mrs. Fitz was an early feature ofOutlander, where she served at Castle Leoch. Claire took a liking to the woman, who was a bit bristly around the edges but deeply caring and warm toward those she trusted. Eventually, Claire found her way into that circle.

As it turns out,Mrs. Fitz will still be a feature of Castle Leoch inOutlander: Blood of My Blood, where she will be a handmaid and friend to Jamie’s mother, Ellen MacKenzie. This time played by Sally Messham, Mrs. Fitz may even provide a similar role of support to Claire’s mother, Julia, who will also find herself stuck in he past.

6Arch Bug

Now Played By Terence Rae

Arch Bug, played by Hugh Ross inOutlander, is a bit of a tragic character. Though he was very grandfatherly toward the Frasers for most of the series, he turned into a secondary antagonist after Young Ian killed his wife, Mrs. Bug. Ultimately, William was forced to kill Arch to save Ian and Rachel’s lives.

Given Mr. Bug’s tragic end in Outlander, it will be bittersweet to see him in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

GivenMr. Bug’s tragic end inOutlander, it will be bittersweet to see him inOutlander: Blood of My Blood. The younger version of the character is played by Terence Rae, and he is teased to be a bodyguard for Clan Grant.

5Uncle Lamb

Now Played By George Kemp

It’s stated repeatedly inOutlanderthat Claire was raised by her Uncle Lamb (Quentin Lambert Beauchamp), the archaeologist brother of her father, Henry. We saw a few brief clips of Claire’s life with the man, but didn’t get much time to get to know him.

SinceOutlander: Blood of My Bloodwill dive deeper into Henry and Julia Beauchamp’s stories, it makes sense that Uncle Lamb would be a feature as well. The character will be played by George Kemp in the spinoff series.

4Rupert MacKenzie

Now Played By Louis O’Rourke

Rupert MacKenzie, played by Grant O’Rourke, was a source of constant comic relief in the early seasons ofOutlander. This naturally made hima pretty lovable character, despite his very rough edges. Unfortunately, Rupert met a tragic end, but this only makes his appearance inOutlander: Blood of My Bloodmore exciting.

Louis O’Rourke is Grant O’Rourke’s own son, so the casting here is absolutely perfect and downright heartwarming.

Rupert is only a child in theOutlanderprequel spinoff, where he will be played by Louis O’Rourke. This is Grant O’Rourke’s own son, so the casting here is absolutely perfect and downright heartwarming.

3Angus Mhor

Now Played By Marlow Walters

Angus Mhor was Rupert’s other half inOutlander, and he was just as hilarious as his counterpart. Though completely lacking in tact, Angus ended up working his way into Claire’s heart. This naturally made his death inOutlanderall the more difficult to accept.

Like Rupert, Angus will be a feature inOutlander: Blood of My Blood, and he will be played by the son of Stephen Walters, who originated the character inOutlander.Young Marlow Walters should be the perfect lad to step into the role.
