Marvel’s series of one-shots pitting Godzilla against its biggest heroes comes to a roaring end withGodzilla vs Thor#1. This epic showdown has been years in the making, and a preview makes it clear it was worth the wait.
Marvel shared a preview ofGodzilla vs Thor#1 withMonkeys Fighting Robots.The one-shot, written by Jason Aaron and drawn by Aaron Kuder, sees Thor fight Godzilla, who has come under the sway of the Hand. As the God of Thunder charges into battle, he knocks out one of Godzilla’s teeth!

TheGodzillafranchise is one of the most popular in entertainment history, and has inspired legions of tie-in merchandise, including comics. Interestingly enough, despite Godzilla’s popularity in America as early as the 1960s, he did not make the leap to comics until Marvel’sGodzilla: King of the Monstersbook in 1977.
Marvel’sGodzillatitle was written by Doug Moench and drawn by Herb Trimpe.

Marvel’sGodzillatitle integrated the kaiju into the Marvel Universe. During the book’s 24-issue run, Godzilla met various agents of SHIELD as well as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. In addition, the character of Red Ronin was introduced, who continues to appear in Marvel Comics. The book came to an end in 1979.
Recently, however, Marvel obtained the rights to makeGodzillacomics. First, they reissued the entire 1970s series in an omnibus format, as well as released a series of variant covers. The next logical step was to bring Godzilla back to the Marvel Universe, as there were plenty of heroes he never met or fought.
