TheTony Hawk’s Pro Skaterseries will be coming back in a big way in a few months’ time with thenewly-announced remaster collectionTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and in the wake of the its announcement, developer Vicarious Visions has given fans an idea of what kind of content to expect at launch, and later on.
From the look of it, fans won’t be wanting for content when the games launch in September. According to Activision,1+2will feature all of the original levels, tricks, modes, and professional skaters from the original PS1 versions ofPro Skater 1and2, in addition to new features like updated graphics, local split-screen and online multiplayer, the ability to share custom parks online, and a number of new tricks, challenges, and customization options.

And Vicarious Visions has made it clear that none of this content will cost players anything beyond the price of the collection itself. Speaking with GameSpot, studio chief Jen Oneal confirmed thatTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2won’t feature any microtransactions at launch. “Everything that you see at launch is going to be unlocked with gameplay,” Oneal said, stating that the studio wants to give players a “complete package” right out of the gate.
That said, the studio is open to introducing some form of monetization at a later time, should there be a demand for extra content post-launch. At that point, Oneal said, the studio might consider adding new content that can be purchased with real money. It’s possible that the studio may consider also adding cross-platform play, similarly to other Activision titles likeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, but Oneal wouldn’t say for sure if it will happen.
Outside of the games themselves, Oneal also confirmed that Tony Hawk was involved with the remakes, despiteHawk saying he had moved on from the seriesin 2018. “Tony really wanted a very faithful remaster, which is what we are doing. He is still really close to all of the skaters from the first two games, and they’re all present [in the remasters]," Oneal said. “We ran plans by him from the get-go, and shared with him any new ideas that we had. He knows what the culture of skate is and how we need to represent it.”
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2will launch on September 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
