Despite rave reviews and a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score,Mindhunterwas eventually canceled by Netflix after season 2.
WhileMindhunterseason 1 set the bar high, season 2 was considered even better, bringing back Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), two special agents in the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit, focused on theAtlanta child murders connected to Wayne Williams.Mindhunterseason 2 also featured appearances by other notable serial killers like David Berkowitz and Charles Manson. Still, much of the show’s intrigue was carried by performances from Groff and McCallany. Though it’s not forMindhunter, McCallany, in particular, is back leading a show on Netflix.

McCallany mentioned “there is a chance that [Mindhunter] may come back as three two-hour movies” before emphasizing “it’s just a chance.”
At this point, any discussion of moreMindhunteris a great sign, especially when one of the show’s stars is still expressing interest in returning to the show. McCallany’s comments also mentioned writers and scripts, suggesting that the team behindMindhunteris still very active in attempting to bring back the show, whether it’s another proper season or movies. Based onMindhunter’s storytelling format, season 3 could jump a few years to the mid-80s and still keep up with the lingering BTK Killer mystery while investigating other serial killer cases.
No matter what is decided, it’s clear thatMindhuntertruly left a mark on viewers if there’s still a push for more, even six years after the last batch of episodes dropped.
