Star Warshas revealed that it’s reversing one controversial plot twist fromThe Mandalorianseason 2, and this decision is certainly for the better.The Mandalorianseason 2 was full of unexpected surprises and twists, including the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano in episode 5 and the heroic return of Luke Skywalker in the finale.
Not all of these surprises were met with praise, however. In fact, there was one specific plot twist that left viewers utterly shocked for more reasons than just one. While it seemed impossible to ever reverse it,Star Warsis now endeavoring to do so in the upcomingThe Mandalorian and Grogumovie, and it’s definitely the right choice.
Din Djarin Needs A Bounty Hunting Ship Like The Razor Crest Again
The Mandalorianseason 2, episode 6 “Chapter 14: The Tragedy” saw Moff Gideon completely destroy Din Djarin’s iconic gunship, theRazor Crest. The ship had long since functioned as a home to Din Djarin and Grogu, andits unexpected destruction became a point of contention for many fans, even if it made sense to the story at the time.
The dissatisfaction with this plot twist grew even more when Din Djarin picked up aNaboo N-1 starfighteras his new vessel. Although appealing to those who consider the prequelStar Warstrilogy a favorite,the N-1 wasn’t fit for a life like Din’s, especially once Grogu was back in the picture.
The destruction of theRazor Crestmight have once been meant to symbolize Din Djarin’s shift away from a life of bounty hunting, but that wasn’t how his story continued to develop. AfterThe Mandalorianseason 3,it’s clear that Din is returning to bounty hunting, and he needs a ship like theCrestagainfor that.
The N-1 Starfighter Was Never Fit For Din Djarin’s Lifestyle
Even before he made a return to bounty hunting, the N-1 starfighter was never going to fit with Din Djarin’s lifestyle, especially as a father.Din likely had theRazor Crestfor a long time prior to the events ofThe Mandalorian, given the fact that his old ally,Ranzar Malk, was quite familiar with it back in season 1.
Mando thus shaped his life around having such a gunship, and reducing a living size down to a single starfighter was never going to be ideal.As a more nomadic figure, Din’s ship needs to have a twofold function as his home, and while the starfighter was a dream in dogfights, it wasn’t suitable for living long-term.
Bringing back theRazor Crest- or at least a different model of the same thing -allows Din that seamless ability to take his home on the go wherever he adventuresinThe Mandalorian and Grogu. While theCrest’s destruction inThe Mandalorianwill always hit hard,Star Warsis ultimately making the right choice by bringing it back.
