Will Trent’snewest series regular moving into more moments of each seasoncould lead to the show fixing one of it’s only pressing issues. WhileWill Trentseason 4won’t hit the air until early 2026, the show’s already making strides toward bolstering its cast for the upcoming season. Though the series hasn’t revealed if its losing any regulars, one recurring star is being promoted.

ThroughoutWill Trentseason 3, the team came back to a more harmonious place despite being separated into two different units, the GBI and the Atlanta PD. While the teams have always intermingled, they worked together more frequently throughout the last stretch of the season. This led tomore complex dynamics for everyone, rather than just Will (Ramon Rodriguez) and Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen).

While the complexities of the team dynamics are at an all-time high, the fate of the characters hanging in the balance duringWill Trentseason 3’s finale could change everythingmoving forward. Though it’s not clear who, if anyone, will be leavingWill Trentbehind, bringing another team member into the mix at a higher capacity may solve the show’s biggest problem.

Detective Wilks (Kevin Daniels) Has Been Promoted To Series Regular

He’ll Appear More Consistently

Will Trent’sKevin Daniels, who plays Detective Wilks on the series, has been moved up to a regular after being recurring throughout the show’s run. WhileWilks has been part of many major storylines onWill Trent,he’s never been the focal point before. Knowing that Wilks will be a series regular forWill Trentseason 4, things could change on screen.

Wilks Should Be More Present On The GBI Side

He’s Currently Part Of The Atlanta PD

AlthoughWilks currently primarily works on the PD side with the detectives, mainly Angie and her partner Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), it’s possible that he could be the bridge to the GBI that the show’s been missing. While Will and his partner Faith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson) are often working cases assigned by Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn), then find themselves working with the detectives frequently.

Wilks could be a great way to bridge the GBI with the Atlanta PD while Wagner is out of commission, or if she loses her lifeafter theWill Trentseason 3 finale. Though it’s unclear what Wagner’s status will be moving into the new season, having Wilks do more with the GBI couldultimately push Will, Angie, Faith, & Ormewood into working together more frequently.

Will Trent May Use Wilks To Create An APD/GBI Bridge

He May Take Wagner’s Place In Her Absence

While it’s unclearwhat capacity Wilks will be usedin as a series regular, opening up more stories about him and surrounding him will help bridge the gap between the two teamson the show. Will Trent’sbiggest issue has long been that there are times when Faith & Will and Angie & Ormewood feel isolated from one another.

WithWilks potentially moving into a position to be a bridge between the GBI and the detectives on the team, he could shift the way the teams work together, and eliminate a lot of the moments where they’re working apart. While there are some stories that are more interesting to tackle from two perspectives,Will Trentcould eliminate a big issue in its narrative.
