In a shock twist, Charles Xavier’s son Legion just becameX-Men’s most powerful mutant. David Haller has long been one of X-Men’s most unbelievably powerful beings -an Omega-level mutant whocan generate pretty much any superpower. However, with this latest upgrade, Legion is now powerful enough to send the gods themselves running for cover.
Legion only got this upgrade because he wasalreadypowerful enough to overpower the Scarlet Witch, showing how godlike he’s now become.

Legion Just Became the Most Powerful Mutant of All Time
Charles Xavier’s Son Absorbs Every Mutant Power
In today’sGiant-Size House of M #1- from Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Francesco Manna and Edgar Delgado - Legion and Ms. Marvel travel back to 2005’sHouse of M. In thisaltered reality created by Scarlet Witch,Legion hijacks her iconic"No more mutants"spell, removing the powers of all but 199 mutants.
In the aftermath,Legion absorbs the removed powers, gaining the abilities of hundreds of thousands of mutants. While Ms. Marvel sets out to defeat the villain, it’s hard to imagine what even the X-Men can do against a foe with the combined powers of an entire species.

This Legion isn’t technically David Haller. David left his body and powers behind to ascend beyond reality, with his powers generating their own sentience which has now taken over his body. The resulting Legion is power incarnate, without any humanity to guide his decisions.
The Collective Is Back, Somehow Even More Powerful
One of Marvel’s Most Jaw-Dropping Villains Gets a Second Chance
In original Marvel lore,House of Mremoved the powers of almost all mutants worldwide, however those powers weren’t destroyed. Instead, they merged together to form a being known as the Collective, first encountered inNew Avengers #16by Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven. After fighting the Avengers, the Collective was absorbed by Michael Pointer, who became the heroic Weapon Omega until the events ofAvXredistributed the energy to its former wielders.
However, as Legion and Kamala Khan tumble through time, those events have been rewritten. Instead of creating the Collective, the combined mutant powers have been stolen by Legion, who plans to remake reality in his own image. Having failed to acquire the Phoenix Force, Legion now has the power he needs. It’s worth noting thatLegion was only able to claim these powers because he wasalreadypowerful enough to overwhelm the Scarlet Witch, making a further upgrade almost unfathomable.

InGiant-Size House of M #1, Ms. Marvel can’t remember what happened to the Collective in Marvel’s original timeline, seemingly referencing how the plot line fizzled out the first time around.
Giant-Size House of Mis part of a series whereMs. Marvel travels through X-Men history, battling Legion in every era. The story concludes in the upcomingGiant-Size X-Men #2, whereMs. Marvel will return to the present and battle Legion one last time. However, with the power of multiple Omega mutants running through his veins, Legion is all but unbeatable, goading Ms. Marvel to harness the entire history of the X-Men to stand a chance against this corrupted form of Charles Xavier’s son.
