As Kamala Khan has unwillingly embarked on a journey through important mutant moments in Marvel history, she’s taking on different X-Men heroes as new mentors along the way.
In a preview of the main story inGiant-Size House of M #1, written by Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly and drawn by Francesco Manna, Ms. Marvel finds herself in a middle school where Katherine Pryde is a teacher.Kamala attempts to enlist Kitty’s help to assemble the alternate reality’s X-Men.
The issue seemingly finds Kitty before she appears in Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel’sHouse of M, still unaware that she’s living in theScarlet Witch’s distorted version of reality. Kitty had a tiny role in the original event, butteaming up with Kamala could reveal major secrets about her life in this reality.

The Scarlet Witch was the major catalyst for the originalHouse of M, butthe new Giant-Size adventure will seemingly reveal how Kitty helped Kamala navigate the event and combat Legion as their true enemy.Ms. Marvel’s fight with Legion already evolved her powers, giving Kamala abilities which resemble her MCU counterpart, and their continuing fight could have ramifications for all of mutantkind.
Kitty Pryde was part of a larger mutant ensemble inHouse of M, which makes her character the perfect candidate to mentor Kamala in the background while the main story unfolds. Ms. Marvel has already gotten advice from Jean Grey, Rogue, and Cyclops during previous stops in her adventure through X-Men history, with this adventure fully redefining her as anX-Menhero.
In theHouse of Mreality, Scarlet Witch seemingly gave her friends and allies versions of their ideal lives - Carol Danvers was an A-list superhero, Spider-Man never lost Gwen Stacy, and Wolverine recovered all memories of his past. It’s therefore interesting that Kitty Pryde was a teacher, and it will be fun to see how heroic she is in a world without the X-Men.Will Kitty be another mentor to Kamala, or has this world twisted her into something more villainous?

Despite this, meeting young mutants in need dragged Kitty back into heroism in the ongoingExceptional X-Men- now, Ms. Marvel is the young mutant in need, and a totally different version of Kitty is being asked to step out of her comfort zone and risk everything.
House of Mhas one of the most iconic endings for any Marvel storyline, as the Scarlet Witch changed the population of mutantkind with three simple words -“No more mutants.“Although things will go differently in this version of events, with new heroes and another immensely powerful villain being the focus, Kitty and Kamala’s fight to save theX-Menwill still explore who these heroes are at their core.
