First explained inX-Men#14, Jennifer was a normal human who was transformed into a mutant bythe terrorist organization known as 3K,gaining the ability to alter her DNA and transform herself into various animal-like forms, as well as acquire new abilities such as flight.

As a new mutant, the full extent of Jennifer’s powers was unknown; however, with the inclusion of her new name, the scope of her full abilities has become far clearer.Similar to Darwin, Animalia has the extremely powerful ability to adapt her body to her environment, yet as her name suggests, Animalia’s abilities extend only to the Animal Kingdom.
