Xboxhas been facing a pricing dilemma as of late. Back in May, Xboxraised the pricesof its consoles, controllers, and accessories, and also announced that, starting this holiday season, its first-party games would increase to $80.The Outer Worlds 2was the first game announced by Xbox to be set at the new $80 price range, and it didn’t end well.

Xbox has course-corrected, but this doesn’t stop atThe Outer Worlds 2. Xbox’s biggest game this year,Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, will also be affected by this price change. After 13 years, we finally have a direct sequel to the often-regardedbest game in the series,Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and fans are really excited, especially after the revelation that it will stay at $70.

Xbox’s Recent Price Reduction

A Huge Win For Consumers

Shortly after this year’s Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox revealed the $80 price forThe Outer Worlds 2, which is set tolaunch on October 29. This led to a significant backlash, with many consideringThe Outer Worlds 2unworthy of the $80 price. On July 23, Xbox dropped the price ofThe Outer Worlds 2to $70, but that’s not all.

In a statement sent toWindows Central, an Xbox spokesperson stated:

We’re focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99 – in line with current market conditions.

It’s interesting that all of Xbox’s holiday releases will drop to $70, because that meansCall of Duty: Black Ops 7will stay at $70, likeBlack Ops 6. When that initial price increase was announced in May, many expected the nextCall of Dutyto be set at $80, but that, thankfully, doesn’t appear to be the case now.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Will Be $70

An Unexpected Surprise

If there’s one game that Xbox could raise the price to $80 and get away with it, it would beCall of Duty: Black Ops 7.Call of Dutyis a franchise worthover 30 billion dollars, surpassing the value ofBatmanandSpider-Man. With its popularity, people would still buyBlack Ops 7at $80, but it’s awesome that Xbox is restraining itself by making all of its holiday releases, including the newCOD, $70.

Of course,Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, among other holiday Xbox first-party titles, will release day one on Xbox Game Pass, so this $70 price reduction is more for PlayStation gamers. Still, with the new statement sent to Windows Central,Call of DutyandXboxfans can rest assured thatCODwill remain at $70 whenBlack Ops 7arrives later this year.
