Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis a game that definitely believes there is more than one way to skin a cat… Or, in this case, skin a bat. Since the game launched, players have been continuously finding new and creative ways to solve puzzles,travel across the map, and defeat enemies. The latest battle technique uses the game’s weather patterns to eliminate a very specific kind of enemy.
Usually, a big rain storm inBreath of the Wildspells disaster for Link. The downpours make it very difficult to climb rocks, the lightning can hurt the player if they have metal equipped, and the thunder can scare away your horse. If you’re able to survive all of that, one overlooked upside to a rain storm though is that it can be used to defeat certain fire enemies.
It looks like if players are able to kite the flame-covered Fire Keese into a patch of rain, the enemies wings will burn out and it will be defeated. This gives Link the opportunity to loot the bird’s remains without ever raising a single weapon. Pretty impressive, no?

Fire Keese can also be defeated much more easily by using ranged weapons, but this alternate method is worth exploring if the weather is cooperating when you happen to come across one of the flying balls of flame. This is just one more addition to the long list of ways players have been able to take advantage ofBreath of the Wild’sincredibly detail-oriented open world.
